It is a fact that sport brings people together, and for the most part sport spurns prejudices and brings different cultures, religions and races closer. And over the past couple of decades, sporting and property developers have seen the potential of purpose built All-inclusive sporting communities.
These communities are sometimes residential and people can actually live where they love to spend their leisure time. America is leading the way for such projects and in this blog we will highlight some of the best all-inclusive sporting communities that currently exist.
What Does All-Inclusive Mean?
For many years property developers have teamed up with existing golf clubs to build dwellings on their expansive land. Many of these golf clubs turned into types of Country Clubs, where like-minded golfers could play and live in the same place and enjoy the hospitality of the clubhouse.
However golf courses by themselves do not attract the many other people that enjoy different sports. There are millions of sporty and athletic people around the world who would dearly love to live somewhere that all manner of activities are just outside their front doors. So far we have seen a growth in many different kinds of sporting communities: golf, equestrian, shooting etc. But recently there has been a rise in demand and offering of super sporting communities so that households of all ages can have access to more or less any sporting activity that they want.
The Greenbrier Sporting Club
Our first super club is the Greenbrier Sporting Club which is hidden away in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains that are situated south of Washington D.C. This deluxe all-inclusive retreat is set within six and a half thousand acres of stunning countryside.
Facilities for residents are superb, including a gigantic thirty two thousand square foot member’s lodge. The lodge has a private dining room and comfortable lounges for both men and women to enjoy when they are not playing sport. There are endless sporting facilities at this prestigious club, including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an equestrian center, three golf courses which are all rated championship class. Sports are also within the theme of shooting, squash courts, tennis courts, gym, fly fishing, mountain biking, and whitewater rafting.
If you head down to South Palm Desert in California, then you can find Bighorn which is the second of our all-inclusive sporting community. The setting could not be more dramatic, with the majestic Coachella Valley Mountains staring down at the vast desert. Residents can take advantage of two wonderful championship golf courses, and when not out playing golf, they can relax in a European-style spa and spacious wellness center offering every sort of body pampering you can possibly think of.
For the more active there are private hiking trails and a large swimming pool as well as four tennis courts. Bighorn has no less than seven restaurants and even a gourmet-deli. And to gain access to Bighorn residents have the use of not just one, but three private jets. We continue our blog of some of America’s most exciting all-inclusive sporting communities in part two.
